This is a design entry I did for fun a while back. It was a logo design competition, we got a brief and had a week to create our concepts.
The Brief
Cosmo's Creamery is a laid-back space-themed ice cream and frozen yogurt shop. The vibe is fun, light-hearted, and definitely spacey. Their retail location is decked out with goofy space murals and fun graphics. There's also a slightly hippy vibe to the place akin to Mellow Mushroom pizza chain (google them to find pictures of their locations to get a sense of what the client is talking about).
Cosmo's has a great looking store but has been lacking in the logo department. That's where you come in. They're interested in a few directions or a combination thereof: retro, NASA, psychedelic, cartoony. It's your job to start there and come up with a design that feels like it belongs to a quality ice cream establishment, while not feeling like it takes itself too seriously. Try to avoid cliches.
